LTYD Iron Sharpens Iron
College Readiness Integrated within LTYD’s Programs. LTYD understands all the intricacies that go into the ever-changing process of preparing youth for a successful transition into their post-secondary program. We also understand the value of having empowered parents as partners in their child's educational journey.
The Iron Sharpens Iron mentoring project is an on-going initiative and commitment to Larry's passion for providing direct service and mentorship to youth in our community. The mentoring project is a male mentoring group created to support high school-aged minority young men to and through college.
Building Character and Competence
The Iron Sharpens Iron (ISI) Program is a comprehensive youth development program specifically designed to empower young student-athletes to excel both on and off the field. Our goal goes beyond athletics; we mentor youth to become strong, disciplined leaders in all areas of life.
ISI provides weekly mentorship sessions focused on crucial life skills development and character building. We instill responsibility, discipline, and a strong work ethic necessary for success. Key program areas include:
Academic Excellence: Targeted tutoring services in specific school subjects to ensure academic success and reduce high school dropout rates.
Financial Literacy: Practical lessons in financial planning and money management to build a foundation for economic prosperity.
College and Career Readiness: Personalized guidance on college preparation and career pathways to ensure our students graduate industry-ready.
Leadership & Teamwork: Hands-on activities that build youth leadership skills and reinforce the value of teamwork and communication.
Through these integrated programs, ISI creates positive role models and provides trauma-informed mentorship that guides high-risk youth toward fulfilling their individual potential.

LTYD proudly welcomes featured speaker, Jazin Hodge, to mentor and assist our youth in the LTYD Iron Sharpens Iron program.
Jazin is an entrepreneur, strategist, and advocate dedicated to driving impactful change. An NYU graduate, he has successfully launched three businesses—Allied Youth, Cornerstone Strategies, and The Citizen Collective—specializing in youth empowerment, strategic consulting, marketing, and public relations. He is also the co-founder of True Me: Golden Years, a nonprofit committed to supporting aging communities with dignity and resources.
Since 2017, Jazin has held director-level roles in a diverse range of statewide and national mobilization efforts, leading strategy, outreach, and grassroots initiatives that have shaped policy and strengthened communities. With expertise in marketing, public relations, and organizational strategy, he continues to work at the intersection of business, organizing, and social impact, building solutions that create lasting change.
